Uniqlo New In

[unpaid/affiliate] I don’t think I’ll be dashing to the shops today (although the lure might prove too strong) but the shops I really most want to go to are TKMaxx, Selfridges and Uniqlo. I don’t even know why I want to dive into TKMaxx – perhaps its just the possibilities but my common sense head says wait til the crowds have died down. But, I’ve got a couple of trips into central London this week so I can tick off Uniqlo and Selfridges then. Uniqlo stores are few and far between (as are Selfridges actually) so I’ve pulled out the new arrivals I know that I won’t be able to resist in case you feel a bit of on-line shopping coming on.

Uniqlo Jump Suit

I’m kicking off with this lounge jump suit – it’s an absolute snip at £14.90 – in a soft jersey fabric in grey or black. I know last time I posted about Uniqlo, someone said that they didn’t like the synthetic fabrics (the jump is rayon) but this brand knows how to handle fabrics and they never feel ‘sweaty’ or cheap. The point about it being ‘lounge’ I guess is that its soft and comfortable – I’m not sure I’d wear it out, but we will see. It’s HERE in XXS to XL. There’s one review on the site for this saying that it’s flimsy material and a horrible colour – there is only a grey and a black so I’m not sure how they’ve taken so against either, but thought I should flag it up. I can hear the flimsy point but for me that’s a plus – it’s for the summer, so lightweight is what I’m after.

Uniqlo Shirt

I think I maybe have three or four iterations of this shirt (in white) that is the easiest thing in the world to shove on over a pair of jeans and instantly look put together. It’s got all the comfort factor of your favourite t-shirt but just elevates things to an anywhere look. Pop on a little black jacket over the top and there you are …On me the shirt sits just fractionally under the bum. I’m going to get this pink one to try and break my white shirt habit (but inevitably will add a white one – it’s too hard to let a great white shirt go…). Again, it’s rayon and drapes beautifully in a way that cotton never does. It’s £19.90 HERE in XXS to XXL in six other colours (grey, white, navy, beige, brown and green).

Uniqlo Bra Top

I realise this isn’t as exciting for everyone else as it is for me but when I new style bra top arrives, I buy it straight away. A couple of years ago, Uniqlo brought out cross strap versions and I regret almost daily I didn’t buy more! This is in the Airism fabric that wicks away sweat (it’s only just stopped snowing but I’d kick myself for not striking while at least the iron was hot) and helps to stay cool in the heat (or for light exercise – I wear them for yoga). It’s £19.90 HERE in five colourways – white, navy, blue, yellow and grey) in sizes XXS to XXL.

    Hello Jane,
I totally agree about white shirts, I must have at least eight which I wear on repeat and rarely buy anything in a colour. My only gripe is I line dry the washing and the shirts do “ yellow” which is irritating.
    Best Wishes,
    Vivienne

You just can’t go wrong because it goes with everything! I prefer a 3/4 sleeve which are sometimes hard to find – Cos usually comes up trumps for
that though. I don’t know what you can do about yellowing but there must be something.

Uniqlo Airism t-shirts are THE BEST. Seriously, you don’t get sweaty and the fabric is so soft.

exactly! They do bed linen now and I have to sit on my hands not to buy it!

Hi Jane ! I keep ‘nearly’ buying from Uniqlo but they have an odd returns policy and I get nervous about sizes! Can you give an idea on how the sizes equate to UK 10, 12 etc? I won’t hold you to it but keen for advice

So I’m a size 12 – pre lockdown I was a smaller 12 – I think maybe an 11 – now, I think I’m more in the realms of a proper 12 -13. I take a size M in everything unless I want it particularly loose – I moved up to an L but everything (bar the coats) was too big. So, my down coat is an L. It sounds to me (if you are a 10-12) in tops you will be M and if a 14 or you like loose things, an L. Hope that helps!

I bought the black version of the pretty shirt you have and it’s perfect. I like an elbow length sleeve, it’s light and not too boxy and washes like dream. I will wear it to death I’m sure!

I think its the elbow length that I like so much – and the flow.. it seems to skim in the right places – mine are worn SO much 🙂
