Friday Treat – Animal Print Soft Jacket

[affiliate] I’m still not through my animal print phase – my friend Sass had a leopard print jacket that she wore over a flowery dress when we met up for drinks (about a year ago!) and I have never forgotten how amazing she looked. But, I am not happy in structured jackets because I like movement and comfort. I’m not much of a cardigan fan either so the trend for soft textured jackets in a kind of sweatshirt material has suited me down to the ground.

Animal Print Jacket

I can think of about a thousand ways to wear this one – with jeans and a white t-shirt, black skinnies with the same t-shirt, over a black dress, over a flowery dress for a complete colour clash combo, with a long black pleat skirt, with a short denim skirt, over a jump suit, a cream shirt – I mean … for something so individual, there are a lot of ways to wear it. Personally, I would always roll up the sleeves to mid fore-arm. Feedback on this is that it fits a little big – if you’re planning to wear over jumpers though winter (hello, cream, red or black polo necks) go for your regular size, otherwise look at the size chart carefully. It’s made in soft jersey with plenty of stretch (no lining though) and you can just chuck it in the washing machine. I bet it sells out – actually I think it’s a rogue early autumn drop – the main autumn collection isn’t coming out for a few days yet but this one has found its way to the website.  Find it HERE for £35 in sizes 6 to 24.

I just threw caution to the winds and ordered this! Thank you!!
(Hadn’t realised it was M&S, that’ll make sizing easy.)
This would help recreate my favourite Keith Richards photo from about 1974. Leopard skin velour blazer, black and cream striped t shirt, loose black n white polka dot bow tie, and a dangling fag. (
And I’ve got those M&S ‘kinda leather’ black jeans you featured last autumn too, so I’m all set.) ;))

Your styling tips are great, lots of good ideas for this jacket. As ever, I’d not have found it, or considered it, had you not shown it here.

Oh thanks Cal, and I love the sound of that look! By the way, I bought another pair of waxed jeans (not so noisy as the M&S ones) from Mango – generous sizing – I got a size 12 (40) and they’re a perfect fit – usually I am in that mid range size 11 that nobody caters for but at the moment am a full 12. Not expensive so a definite recommend, as are the black leopard print sweatshirts from Sainsbury’s.

I’m *thisclose* to ordering it… I’m curious, could you please describe the floral dress that your friend was wearing with the jacket?

I can’t remember exactly what it was like but just remember saying, ‘wow, you look amazing’!

  3. That jacket is absolutely amazing!

Very happy to have tracked down this jacket – Chelsea M&S had my size 12 and I wore it straightaway. Just the style and weight for between seasons and it looks and feels terrific. Thank you Jane for finding the perfect extra to pull together so much in my wardrobe with a new kick⁄.

Ah, so pleased you like it – mine is on order as my local branch doesn’t have it 🙁 x
