Neal’s Yard Remedies Bee Lovely All Over Balm

Remember when everyone had an ‘everything’ balm? They seem to have fallen out of favour somewhat of late but this is one I’m very pleased to have. It’s a Soil Association certified organic balm using beeswax and orange essential oil, and part of a five year commitment by Neal’s Yard to support healthy hives and habits for bees in Ghana. This is very much a pay it forward product: every sale means a donation that could go to, say, a cashew farmer, to install a new bee hive. What this in turn means is that beehives have been shown to double the local cashew yields, as well as providing another income source via the honey. In impoverished parts of the world, something as simple as a bee hive can have a dramatic effect.

There’s already a comprehensive Bee Lovely collection, so the balm is the newbie, and the way that Neal’s Yard put it is that ‘every sale of Bee Lovely All Over Balm creates a home for over 500 bees’. It’s easily one of the nicest balms because it smells so orangey – it makes you smile straight away and while it looks a bit shiny when the heat of your fingers melt the surface, it actually means that it’s easy to work into dry bits and give immediate soothing. The balm also contains beeswax, honey, cocoa seed butter and shea butter. It’s launching next month for £27. Definitely, in many ways, worth it.
