KEYS Soulcare by Alicia Keys

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] To be honest, before I started yoga, I might have thought this new lifestyle brand from Alicia Keys a little too woo for my tastes. There’s a lot of light bringing and affirmations. These days though, I say, each to their own and if an affirmation a day keeps the gloom away, it’s all good. Positivity is not to be sniffed at right now, and anything that helps you to be happier in yourself is a thumbs up in my book. If you asked a dermatologist, or indeed, a psycho-dermatologist, whether emotional stress can play a part in skin acting up, they’d say yes in a heartbeat. Obviously, the part that Soulcare has to play is to remind you that self-care is a priority – even when time is tight.

Because Alicia has worked with e.l.f. on this range, the price points are far more friendly than I was expecting. The thing I like best so far is the Sage & Oat Milk Candle (£35) – just a deliciously soothing and mellow scent to have around you. I could quite easily see the lighting of it as a good segue between working at your desk and shifting off to the sofa for some down time. Skin Transformation Cream (£30, devised by a dermatologist) is multi-tasker for the face – resurfacing, brightening and anti-oxidant rich (with a dash of malachite for anyone who believes in the healing art of gem stones or crystals). There’s also an Obsidian Facial Roller (£25) so you can make a ritual of hydrating as well as cleansers, masks, exfoliators and yes, an aura cleansing spray.

KEYS Soulcare

There’s something sweet about this entire range – it’s very unselfconsciously ‘LA’, aiming to transform routines into rituals that count while encouraging you to make space for yourself.

As part of that, you’re asked to speak the mantras that come with the products as you apply them. I mean, either you will or you won’t – I can’t see how it will matter either way because the choice is yours – but here’s the thing… I never thought I’d end up in a downward dog or a crow pose or close my hands together and say namaste, but I do, and happily so. If it brings you a ray of joy, it’s done the job. Find KEYS Soulcare HERE, non-affiliate HERE.

I was fully intending to buy the cream when I heard about it, as it’s a pretty decent price for LA woo! All I know of Alicia Keys is what Bob Dylan sang about her, and she’s certainly gorgeous.
But curses! The price was a clue after all. Chock full of petroleum by products and silicones, which are harmless, but scarcely nourishing or far out. Still, that’s a personal quibble, and it always catches me out.

(Bravo you on the yoga, I wish I’d started it years ago, as I’m rapidly seizing up)

I wonder if the fragrance free version is any better? They’re not claiming to be natural to be fair but I can see why it’s not for you if you’re trying to avoid those ingredients. I don’t know much about her either to be honest but I don’t think it’s built to appeal to my age group .. prices are kept down because it’s by e.l.f. so the infrastructure is already there to deliver quantity at reasonable prices. Yes! I am so glad I started yoga – I’m just so much physically stronger and I really enjoy that. Have a go at yoga with Adriene – super easy and about 20 minutes a session. One of the 30 day routines would be perfect (you don’t have to do it every day!) x

Oh it was entirely my own assumption re the cream’s natural ingredients, based on her general vibe. All unjustified on my part. By Elf? Goodness, I’d no idea.
Thanks for the yoga encouragement, much appreciated. I’ve seen some of her videos, and she’s very congenial. x

She is, I agree. When I first started yoga I felt like a fraud and very silly but when I got over myself I started to enjoy it a lot. I absolutely credit it with sorting out my shallow breathing that used to make me feel dizzy because it was a habit I’d got into!

Brilliant, you must feel great 🙂

If it is done by elf I’d expect even lower prices, or that is just me?
I have not investigated ingredients, but I do like the general vibe of the products and from your description they do sound like a lovely treat. You are right, we really need all the “good” we can get right now.

My favourite thing is the candle.. it seemed generous in fragrance and is warm and soothing. But, like anything, if the ingredients aren’t to your liking, leave it because we have so many brands and so much choice. x
