Floris Violet Mouthwash

[productsample/affiliate] I can genuinely say that I was a little bit scared to try the new Floris Violet Mouthwash – it’s one thing to try a new lipstick that you can wipe off in seconds but it’s another altogether to get a horrible taste out of your mouth and nose.

However, it is – if you like violet – an absolute delight. I am not a fan of mint so minty mouthwashes are a bit of a challenge because they can feel like they’re burning sometimes. Perhaps I’m just particularly delicate in that matter ;-). This violet flavoured and scented version gives a light parma violet taste with a little back hint of mint that is refreshing and lovely – it’s a million miles from the aggressive high street versions.

In terms of what it’s doing for your oral health – the formula uses essential oils to give anti-bacterial properties and breath freshening qualities. You don’t use it neat, instead adding 5 or so drops to a full glass of water but of course you can bespoke the strength as you wish (I repeat, don’t use it neat). There are instructions not to swallow the infused water but frankly, I just wanted to (I didn’t). A glass of cold water lightly flavoured with parma violet sounds like something you’d buy in an artisan cafe and seems very drinkable indeed. It’s pretty steep at £40 a bottle so I think it’s for the very curious only, but it’s very lovely stuff. It’s launching in April but if your interest is piqued, there is a rose version for £35 already HERE.

  1. I would definitely have been apprehensive to try this too! It sounds nice that it’s not as harsh as other mouthwashes.

Well that’s a product that I didn’t think ever existed! Not sure if I fancy having to mix a mouthwash with water to work but I understand what you mean about harsh minty ones available in shops – I have to use the cherry or clove flavour ones because the mint in normal mouthwashes gives me a headache!

I bought Floris Damask Rose shower gel in the John Lewis winter sale and it was wonderfully scented and kinder to my skin than I expected. One thing led to another and I’ve become a bit of a Floris addict. Items ordered from their own website come beautifully packed in navy tissue and with a decent sized fragrance sample. The mouth wash is one more thing to add to my wish list.

It’s honestly so nice – I’ve been out of touch with Floris for a while but the mouthwash has made me want to see more.

This sounds so lovely. I am weirdly tempted.

  5. Sounds lovely but a bit on the pricey size.
