October seems an odd month to for the Clinique Happy Gelatos to launch when they’re all things summery, but they’re worth the wait because they’re proper body creams (verging on butter) that will give a big moisture boost to post summer skin. And, maybe the gelato aspect is a way to hang on to summer just that little bit longer. I love the fact that Clinique keeps playing around with fun packaging – why make a tub of body butter just look like a tub of body butter when you can play with it a bit and make it pretty?
So, obviously, they’re infused with the Clinique Happy fragrance – specifically, the Happy Indulgences which I don’t think I’ve encountered before, but they’re a variant on Happy. The orange shade tub is the original Happy (predominantly citrus with boysenberry and mimosa), the pink tub is Sugared Petals Gelato (a sweet floral with neroli, bergamot and jasmine), and the purple tub is Berry Blush Gelato (mandarin, raspberry and musks).
To me, they’ve all got a predominant shea butter scent – quite vanilla-ish and the texture is very similar, if not exactly the same, as Clinique Deep Comfort Body Butter so there’s no compromise on efficacy for the novelty factor. The Clinique Happy Gelatos will be £28 in October and are a Debenhams exclusive.
Taking these pictures has completely put me in the mood for an ice-cream!
