[unpaid/sample] I said there was a lot of newness from CHANEL and it’s starting to filter through now. I think we possibly all know the history of No5 – it was the fifth iteration of the efforts to create the fragrance that was to become the CHANEL No5 as we know it now.
This is the fragrance that I’d choose over and over – it was the first fragrance Mr BBB ever bought me (before he was Mr BBB) after he’d been on holiday. I remember sitting on the bed just being open mouthed that he’d bought me Chanel – I could hardly speak – he says it’s the best reaction he’s ever had to a gift. There’s always some kind of No5 in the house – my children (grown up) know it as a scent of their childhood – and I quite like the fact that somewhere in the place I live you can always find this scent. I’ve tried to stop my Chanel ‘saving’ so not doing what our mums famously did and ‘keep it for best’, but to use and enjoy it. I noticed that when Max was here last, my foaming bath oil disappeared rapidly so I used it up while I still had the chance!
Back to the actual product. It’s a set of five CHANEL No5 soaps – each individually wrapped and labelled. There’s always detail with this brand, so the pack is sealed with a stamp that is the same as the baudruchage perfume bottle seals.
The box is nice and chunky in the minimalist colours of black and white that are emblematic for the brand.
It won’t be any surprise to hear that these are a luxury purchase, price-wise, at £89. Thinking about how long soaps last, I think you’re looking at at least a year’s worth in this set – if not more. I like a ‘proper’ soap but tend to keep them for the bathroom and have liquid soaps in the kitchen and downstairs loo. I can’t think CHANEL has ever done a liquid soap – have they? Delivery is free, with complimentary samples and the set is HERE.
