[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Remember when blush only came in apologetic variations of rosy beige? We can thank make-up maestro, Bobbi Brown, and her ‘pops’ of colour for revolutionising blush colours and for releasing us from a life of neutral nothingness.
However, you do need to approach with caution if you’re not used to using the highly pigmented variants we find today such as these absolute beauties from Haus Labs in Dragon Fruit Daze (pink) and Watermelon Bliss (red).
They’re a joy for the eyes but nobody wants to look like they’ve had a couple of wines too many so you’re going to need a big, fluffy brush for application.
I’m using an Hourglass brush which is a whopping £65 HERE but there are much more budget friendly versions such as e.l.f.’s HERE for £6. I know that luxury brushes are catnip for some beauty lovers and then there are people like me who just don’t understand how a brush can cost that much! Either way, you literally just whisper the talc free powder over the colour and when you’ve done that, dust a bit off on your hand before taking it to your cheeks.
You can see with the pink version that it is, indeed, a lovely, face enlivening ‘pop’ of colour. The texture is so soft and silky – no dustiness here – and it feels like nothing at all on the skin. I’ve just gone for a very light amount on the cheek apples and blended well.
Watermelon Bliss is a little trickier to handle – however small amount you think you need, go less! But, I love this energetic colour that’s so summery and vibrant. I’d wear this with just some self tan or a small amount of skin tint rather than a full make up look. Personally, it’s too much for me on that level but as a ‘bonne mine’ look, it’s delicious. They’re £28 each HERE.
