[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] It’s a small (but perfectly formed) seasonal collection for CHANEL this year which focuses on celestial bodies – specifically, the moon – shown best on the star piece, Eclat Lunaire.
There are two versions of Eclat Lunaiere Illuminating Face Powder which depicts facets of the moon’s surface with a bottle of CHANEL No.5 right in the middle. Very CHANEL ;-). Really weirdly, the star above the bottle is more or less the same as my (one and only) tattoo. My version is Or Rose which is a light bronze option or there is Or Cuivre Dore that has more gold and is somewhat deeper. In terms of shimmer, it’s definitely there – I’m not sure you’d do your whole face in this but it’s more smooth twinkling than glittery.
There are three nail polish options – actually this one is my least favourite because I’m not that keen on brown toned reds (it’s called Super Lune). There are two other options that I’ve seen and I’d flag Etoile Top Coat with its amber shimmers as the most versatile because it only needs a quick flick of the brush to bring the shimmer to bare or already painted nails. The Rouge Allure L’Extrait in Rouge Selene is utterly lovely – it’s described as ‘luminous’ and it truly is as you will see in the swatch. There are three other options for this – Brun Luniere (warm brown), Rose Invincible (brown toned rosewood) and Rouge Royal (a cherry red).
Personally, I’m a little less sure on Rouge Allure Laque in this shimmery burgundy. It’s a satin finish and absolutely power packed – I’d say it has a metallic element but it’s somewhat mercurial and I still can’t really tell if it’s really metallic or it’s just the depth of colour and the shimmer. I’ve never come up against that problem before! There is an alternative shade, Rose Mystere for anyone who doesn’t want to go quite so vampy.
Maybe the most interesting item is the Duo Lumiere Multi-Use Illuminating Eye Palette. It’s a double shot of clear gel formula ‘gloss’ infused with shimmer that you can use across lids, brows or lashes to bring a flash of illumination and iridescence to any of those places. I’m embracing the idea of shimmery lashes (there’s a little brow/lash brush included) and shimmery lids but I think I might stop short of lighting up my eyebrows.
So here we are – from bottom to top: Eclat Lunaire in Or Rose, Rouge Allure Laque in Rouge Ombre and Rouge Allure L’Extrait in Rouge Selene. Elcat Lunaire is £68 HERE, Le Vernis is £25 HERE, Duo Lumiere is £40 HERE, Rouge Ombre is £35 HERE and Rouge Selene is £46 HERE. Does anything catch your eye?
