Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals

Trystal Minerals

Looks like a bronzing powder, right? Well, you’d be correct about that, but Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals is actually self tanning powder as well.

To my knowledge, this is the first time that a self tan has come in a mineral powder form – and I love an innovation! So, for use, you would use it exactly as you would use your cosmetic facial bronzing powder, going a little heavier on cheekbones, for example, but then over a period of a few hours, the active tanning ingredient (DHA) will leave the tan right there for up to five days. I was a little concerned that one wrong step with your bronzer and the mistake is there for far too long, but actually, the resulting tan is light and warm – a bonne mine effect rather than bronzed goddess effect.

Above is the effect immediately after application – Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals is quite light reflective with some tiny, tiny sparkles.

You can see on my arm, after washing off that it’s left a light trace of tan. The light’s changed (just my luck) for the before and after so it looks cooler in the after picture but it’s really quite a warm tan effect – and light in colour; lighter I think than a regular liquid self tan would be.

To apply Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals you’ll get the best effect if you apply over your moisturiser or BB/CC/Foundation (but do let it thoroughly sink in first – I made the mistake of adding the minerals on straight after and it went a bit blotchy so I had to start again). There are two shades available (Light and Medium – I have Medium) and it’s hitting stores in March for £35 (which includes the brush).

I’d say if you aren’t a regular bronzer powder gal, this may not be for you – I think it does rely on a certain bronzing powder skill level (and you need to do your jawline and neck too with the lightest of traces) but it’s certainly a huge leap forward in terms of technology. I love the convenience of Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals – imagine doing your bronzing makeup in the morning and by the afternoon, your tan has developed to stay around for a few days. Once the summer hits and your skin has a little bit of natural warmth to it, this is going to be a joy to use.

  2. This sounds brilliant – I can’t wait to try it myself! I think it’s one of the few self-tanners I could get on board with.
