[unpaid/sample] I’ve been craving for a really decent face mask for a long time – I don’t know but it seems to me that face masks aren’t as at the forefront of skin care as they used to be. Maybe the influx of sheet masks killed the creme mask dead but if you find a really decent one, not only is it going to do great things for your skin but it also symbolises the pampering and downtime that we should, but don’t, give ourselves often enough.
I’ve been (almost) exclusively using Tursian skin care since it was given to me at the brand launch about a month ago and I can see the difference in my skin – it’s plumper, certainly not short on light bounce and glow and feels, well, it’s weird to say, but thicker somehow. I think that might be because it’s firmer (minimally) and overall has a calmness and contentedness about it. Right from the get-go I wanted to try the face masks but they weren’t available immediately so I’ve had to wait. Trust me though, they’re worth the wait.
Starting with the Extreme Hydration Nutrition Mask – wow – phospholipids, NMF, probiotics, watermelon extract, ceramides, Ectoin and Alpha & Beta glucans to name just a few of the ingredients. If I was to drill down exactly what each ingredient does (because more or less every single one is doing something – not a lot of ‘filler’ in these) we’d have an essay so I’ve highlighted those that you’ll easily recognise. I did want to flag up Cotton Seed Extract because it’s not something we see so often but in this instance, the plant cells support the skin’s natural defence mechanism which can help with photodamage. The feel of it on the skin is absolute comfort – it looks mad, but feels divine and if you are anything of a mask connoisseur you’ll know immediately upon application that it’s going to be great!
You can make all the Smurf jokes now :-). I left the mask on for 15 minutes or so and once off, it was completely obvious how hydrated and smooth my skin was. We had a family party at the weekend with a lot of sunshine, a lot of socialising and a lot of good food and wine so really, this Monday morning face mask was a bit of a rescue the situation and it did. As my skin is in good condition anyway, it does take quite a lot for it to flag but that was the measure of the party! You get the same feeling of skin hydration and resilience from Y-O Regenerating Youth Masque along with a retexturising benefit. Clay gives it a more clarifying effect although you won’t feel the slightest bit of dryness. It’s quite a hard call between the two because the effects are not all that different but I think I’d plump for P-O Extreme Hydration Nutrition Masque, aka The Blue One.
One thing I wanted to flag is the disparity between the outer packaging jars and the refills. The jar is so big and the refill is so small. It’s 50ml so a standard size for a luxury product but with the price differing so dramatically (it’s £85 for the refill and jar and £60 for the refill – for Y-O) I would honestly consider just buying the refill and decanting it into an air tight jar. I mean, the theory is that you only buy the jar once but I’ve got a cupboard full of jars so it might mean you never buy one at all. I’ve listed the products I’ve been using daily below but there is not one thing on the Tursian website that I don’t want to try – it’s all lovely. I see the launch has been successful because much of it is sold out (come on guys…) but the Extreme Hydration Mask is in stock HERE. Properly a treat (you can get 10% off by joining the mailing list).
*The products I’ve been using day to day are P2 Hydration Activator Energising Toner, £100, R4 Spotlight Energizing Radiance Moisturiser, £110 and R31 Eye Contour Brightening Gel which I’ve been using as an all over serum because I can’t with eye products. If your skin care is good, you don’t need an eye cream IMHO. If it’s a question of which product of the three – R4 Spotlight Energizing Radiance Moisturiser would win it for me. It’s HERE.
