Tony Moly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar

I’m such a fan of quirky Korean brand, Tony Moly, that puts the cute into cosmetics, and the fun as well. It’s not all about being serious. While I’m aware there are one or two sites stocking Korean brands, Tony Moly is still quite hard to get  hold of in the UK (I totally stocked up when I was in Hong Kong a couple of years ago). Non-UK cosmetics often have their prices hugely inflated, but I found a very cool little site that doesn’t seem to put a massive mark up on Korean and Japanese make up. The selection is rather limited and focusses primarily on Asian BB creams (including Mischa, my all time favourite BB), but I found the Tony Moly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar selection for £5.99 each. Too cute not to, really. www.bestbbcreams.co.uk is HERE.

Skincare wise, there are selections from Etude House, Kose and Leaders Insolution.

*Missha, not Mischa 🙂 Jane, do you happen to know anything about Tony Moly’s animal testing policy? Finding info online is proving difficult!

I’ve bought both these and étude house off Ebay direct from H Kong and always receive them ok.

I would assume that if you bought them in HK, they’re subject to China’s cosmetics testing laws (i.e. Tony Moly are legally obliged to test on animals if they wish to sell in China), and that would be why they aren’t for sale within the UK (because animal testing on cosmetics is illegal within the EU).

Technically, Hong Kong doesn’t insist on animal testing in the same way China proper does, and Tony Moly is a Korean company. They’re not legally obliged to test from that viewpoint alone. But like many Asian brands, I’d imagine they do.

Further to that (it’s a horribly complicated issue, but this is my understanding), if an ingredient used in another non-cosmetic product (e.g. a type of silicone, for argument’s sake) is also to be used in a cosmetic product, then that can be tested on animals. The Directive applies to cosmetic ingredients only, and not multi-use ingredients. As I said, this is my understanding, so I’m open to correction. I’ve yet to read the Directive in full.

I’ve no idea if Tony Moly sell in China but I’d assume so. I can’t find much info online, and that I can find is conflicting so I’ll pass on them for now.

  12. already sold out!
