The Science Bit

The Science Bit
The Science Bit

So, ever wondered how fake tan works? Or why face-wipes might be the worst beauty invention ever? Or even why we need to bother with hair conditioner?

Hayley Carr’s book answers all the beauty questions we’ve never thought to ask! Hayley is a fellow blogger over at Londonbeautyqueen.com and we’ve known each other for – what seems like – ages, so I know she’s pretty much guaranteed BS Free (there should be a sticker for that!).

If you have Kindle, you can download now for £2.05 HERE, or if you like a physical book, it will be available in the next few weeks. It’s a great read before you throw down mega-money in front of products; you might want to think twice before you do.

  1. I’ve seen a couple of retweets about this book. Didn’t realise is was LBQ behind it all. I think this is a great idea because face it, most consumers are not scientists and therefore have to rely on what companies are telling you and kinda winging it. Think this is a definate download for me – might just save me some cash. 🙂

What are Hayley’s credentials to write on science, though? Or does she just pose the questions to scientists? x

      Same question…

Seriously? This is like saying you need to be a mechanic to write about cars, or you need to be a seamstress to write about clothes. A good writer can research and edit so you get the facts that you need. You don’t need to be a scientist otherwise most beauty writers wouldn’t have a job, myself included.

I think that was a fair question I was wondering the same thing. Don’t thing it really needed this somewhat snappy response from you.

  5. FYI to those asking, I actually worked in beauty product development (working with scientists and lab technicians) for over 6yrs and started a degree in Cosmetic Science. I’ve written a beauty blog for 3.5 yrs so I think I’m pretty qualified. I hope you download the book and enjoy what I’ve written : )

    1. Just downloaded it -thanks -really looking forward to reading it 🙂

Would love to get this in paperback form so I can read and pass on to Mum who doesn’t have any techy devices – it’s a great idea and I’m sure will give us the Facts instead of having to rely on what ‘Brands’ tell us and the meaningless ingredients on the back of products.

  7. Can you not get it on the ipad or a actual book of this ? My kiddie broke a couple month back!
