[unpaid/sample] In the same way that there are wine connoisseurs and those particular to certain sorts of balsamic vinegars or olive oils, the same could be said of beauty oil enthusiasts. They’re always searching for the one that outperforms the others, that has a stronger heritage, more exotic ingredients or purer contents – it’s a mission, a past-time and a challenge.
So, you might regard Sabzi from Supper Club Skincare as the sort of oil that if it were a wine, you’d lay down and save for a momentous occasion. It’s meeting all the right criteria to be considered a thoroughbred amongst oils. Founder Ziad Halub had food quality instilled in him from a young age as his parents taught him the difference between a good harvest and a bad harvest, why olive oils can taste different depending where they come from and so on… which is what he’s brought to the formula of Sabzi (which means ‘vegetable’). The face oil has a distinct scent that will change depending upon the harvest – to my nose, it’s spicy which makes a welcome change from geranium (in fact, there are no essential oils which will be a relief to those who are sensitive)!
So, what’s in Sabzi? All cold pressed to preserve nutrients, the line up includes coriander seed oil, dill, vitamin E, tomato seed oil, fenugreek extracts, pomegranate, turmeric, tea seed and rosemary extract. To be honest, you could probably pop a couple of drops on your salad (except don’t – I tasted it and it’s a bit too aromatic). Really, you need to read up the origins of these ingredients – everywhere from Poland to India – to appreciate the complexity of the blend. On the skin, it’s all you would hope a luxury oil to be – softening, nurturing and hydrating, but remember that all the ingredients address different things … cellular renewal, inflammation, brightening and so on (read up on the ingredients HERE ) so it’s a complete product and in theory all you could possibly need. I think it’s safe to say that Sabzi is an artisan oil – you can’t pick it off the shelf at Boots (although I am surprised it hasn’t yet been snapped up by SpaceNK) – and a treasure for the aficionado or anyone else for that matter. It’s an investment at £85 HERE but has all the right credentials to be a star.
