Stila Lash Lift Off Mascara Brush

Well, this is interesting, although I suspect it’s a make-up artist trick that’s been used for years but I haven’t ever come across it before – a fan brush for layering mascara onto the lashes. Apparently, it helps to deposit an even layer of mascara onto the lashes and give a little extra lift.

I have some extension-safe mascara so I’ll definitely be able to give it a try when I get hold of one. Have you used this type of brush with mascara before? I’d love to know how it performs. I don’t have any other details at the moment because this is a late spring launch, but it’s certainly piqued my interest.

I’ve never even thought about a mascara brush.
It would need washing on a daily basis though as the bristles would go stiff with the mascara right?

Up I guess, but it’s only a guess because the name has Lift in it.. I won’t really know til I’ve tried it.

  3. What an interesting concept! I’m really intrigued to how this works!

  4. I bought a Paula Dorf mascara fan brush many years ago after reading about it in Allure. It’s good for separating, lifting and removing excess after putting on mascara normally. I don’t think it would work that well to apply mascara directly but I could be wrong. Alex x

This isn’t a new concept. MAC has the 205 brush. I’ve tried it & prefer the mascara wand.

  6. I also have the MAC 205 and am quite happy with it. I actually have two – one for the lashes and one for doing my nails (like sprinkling glitter in the tips). It really works well for both purposes. As the MAC 205 bristles are both quite stiff and of different lengths, I suppose it might work better for separating the lashes, than this one here, with equal bristles. And the hair here at least looks softer that the MAC one’s, which I don’t imagine practical. The MAC brush ist easy to be cleaned as well, as it is made of synthetic bristles.

This looks interesting! Albeit a bit of a faff but would be great for special events xx

If you search the Into The Gloss site, there is a video of Stila founder Jeanine (so?) Lobell applying makeup on her teen daughter, she uses a small fan brush to apply her mascara (to top and bottom lashes), saying it gives a more natural look. Worth a look! I also picked a mini fan brush from MAC years ago and have used it in the same way, though fir my taste I prefer a mascara wand. I do believe MUFE also makes a mini fan.
    Cheers, Lisa

That sounds so cool! I so want to give it a go, even if it does seem a little gimmicky!

  11. I saw one by Royal and Langnickel on Amazon and contemplated trying it out, but then I read some reviews that generally an old mascara wand does the same thing if not better at separating lashes (which I have). However I think using the fan brush to coat the back of your top lashes is easier.
