[AD] This week could not be a better week for telling you about hair accessory brand, Silke London. My hair has been dreadful – it’s processed, obviously, and is very much struggling in the heat. I was bemoaning my crispy ends with my friend Genevieve earlier today and ended up going for a complete re-wash, a heavy duty mask and oil just to keep it from looking ‘beachy’. Beachy has its place but it’s not what I’m aiming for when I have several meetings coming up that I’d prefer not to look like a wave brought me in.
I’m such a fan of silk for hair. I’ve used Silke Hair Ties for years – there’s no snagging, no tugging, no weird kinks and they give weightless hold if you have your hair tied up overnight. I’m on a journey with my processed hair – it’s literally years since I’ve had highlights but I wanted to try grey hair which turns out to be incredibly difficult to keep if you are not naturally grey, and the highlights now are a kind of icy blond or a yellowy blond if I don’t keep my blue toned conditioners going. In the heat, when my scalp starts to sweat (sorry, I know it’s not elegant but it is a fact) my hair frizzes. One night of being way too hot and the next morning my hair is untamable. I swore off straighteners long ago but on occasion there has been no other option.
I often like to use a silk pillow case – it’s not a cure-all but it stops the hair shafts ruffling up so there is something of the smoothness I went to bed with. But, the Silke Hair Wrap cocoons your hair, keeping it smooth, tangle free and more importantly, in good condition. I always use a silk tie to sleep in nowadays – anything else and I’m dealing with kinks and curls with frizz – argh! If your hair is long, tie it with a Silke Tie and then add the Silke Hair Wrap. When your hair is somewhat brittle, which mine certainly is, being gentle with it is so important and a silk hair wrap or tie is the kindest thing you can do for brittle, dry or fragile hair. The damage you do to your precious tresses while you toss and turn in bed on a cotton pillow case thanks to friction is too much if you already have hair issues. Wearing the Hair Wrap is also a hot tip for summer hair and keeping the sun from scorching your locks.
If you have a glorious, strong and healthy mane, cotton pillow cases are fine, but otherwise, and I’ve heard it quoted, treat your hair as you would a silk dress and being fair you wouldn’t subject your silk dress to a sweaty night of, er, friction – I’m trying not to make this sound like a steamy passage from a Mills & Boon. I love my Silke Hair Wrap as much as I love the Hair Ties – now that I have put the effort into de-frizzing and moisture boosting, I want the effect to last at least until my meetings. You will feel somewhat flapper girl decadent when you first put it on but then because you forget it’s there, you think nothing of it at all. We have hot days ahead so I have a discount code for 15% off for you to use – BBB15 at checkout HERE. Excludes bundles.
