At last! The store that’s somewhere between a grown-up Lush and L’Occitane is opening in the UK. If you haven’t heard of Sabon, it’s bath and body (yes, there are bath bombs) range that originated in Israel, where there are plenty of stores. It’s also prolific in the US and The Netherlands, so I’m curious to see how it does over here.
We’re a little bit low on decent bath and body in the UK – compared to make-up, fragrance and skin care ranges, bath and body falls way short as far as consumer choice is concerned. It’s a bit of a hard sell, as well.. try convincing people that they’re going to have a wonderful, luxurious experience when it’s a plastic bottle of indeterminate scent. By all accounts, Sabon does live up to the beautiful packaging in terms of product.
I think Sabon looks spot on for gifting as well.. it’s lovely to pamper friends and family, but you want your gift to look gorgeous but not cost as much as Jo Malone! I’ve checked out the dollar prices – it’s $6 for a bath ball (and for that, you have to clean your own plug hole because they’re billed as an ‘explosion of rose petals and minerals’) and $17 for a bath foam. So, if they turn up at the exact £ equivalent, you’ll know they’ve done a J Crew on us.
I don’t have any more details other than Sabon UK will exist in the not too distant!
