This is just a very small flavour of the RMK Taro Horiuchi collection to celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary. Taro Horiuchi is a Japanese designer. Looking at his AW2017 collection, I’d sum his aesthetic up as complicated simplicity – blacks, whites, greys and reds but overwhelmingly about texture. So, it’s no surprise that the palettes in this collection all have a textural theme – cotton white, knit white, leather white, and so on. I don’t have one here to show you but they’re worth checking out when they launch on 24th of the month.
I have only one of the five nail polishes and one of two lipsticks – it’s not really a good representation of the collection to be honest, but we’ll work with what we have! RMK Irrisistible Glow Lipsticks (£22) are very glossy and soft on the lip – notoriously gentle in colour and pigment, think of Sheer Beige above as a wash of toffee. The other shade is blue which doesn’t look dissimilar to the Hyouka Suqqu lipstick in the same shade. In fact, I think they are the same which might not be a surprise when you know that RMK and Suqqu have the same owner (Equipe). It’s also curious that Rumiko, who apparently founded the RMK brand doesn’t appear at all in the brand’s own history on their website. I’m starting to think I dreamed her up!
Anyway, the collection launches next week so you can have a proper look then.
