[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Last week I featured another glossing hair range that really did deliver on shine. I’m pleased that I have a comparison because I now know that all glossing ranges are not equal. I’ve just tried Provoke – the Hair Gloss Shampoo, Conditioner and Wonder Spray and while yes, I definitely have more ‘luminous’ hair, it’s not as high gloss giving as Redken Acidic Color Gloss, possibly because the latter very much sharpened my colour adding to the shine effect. But, Provoke definitely suits my hair type better.
It’s very lightweight – glossing products tend to rely on heavy conditioning to provide much of the shine and that doesn’t suit all hair types. Provoke, I would say, would suit all hair types from fine to frizzy because of its more detox-like clean and a thinner, easier to rinse conditioner which you remove after five minutes. One of my bug-bears in life is conditioner that won’t rinse out at a reasonable water temperature – I’ve tried some where I feel like I’m boiling my head to actually get rid of it.
The end result is properly clean, swishy and light feeling hair with radiance that I feel very happy with. I liked Redken a lot for the impact but the price difference is huge so that would probably be for occasional or treat use, whereas Provoke (on offer at Boots so hurry – the Conditioner is £2.99 instead of £4.99) is something I could use every time I wash my hair. The Provoke Hair Gloss Wonder Spray is the darling product (£4.99 instead of £9.99 HERE at Boots) because it provides a frizz and humidity shield that seems effective – I had a bit of a disaster trying out a new hair tool yesterday so I was pleased to have the 230 degree heat protection from the spray while I turned to my straighteners to sort it out.
