[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I currently have a review queue for ash/grey haircare – having never been a hair care fan at all, I’m very much enjoying putting products I’ve never tried before through their paces. I reviewed Oribe last week, and this week, at the opposite end of the price spectrum is Provoke Go Ashy at £5.99 for the shampoo.
The first thing to say is that it’s shockingly purple! I thought the actual product was in a purple bottle but it’s in a clear bottle 😊. I’m just suggesting that you don’t wear your best white t-shirt to wash your hair over the bath. I prefer the shampoo over the conditioner because having used it several times, I think the shampoo does a great ‘ashing’ job all on its own and the conditioner isn’t quite rich enough for my hair.
I definitely judge any hair care product on rinsability – if it takes forever to rinse out or if you need the shower/tap too hot than is good for your hair to get the stuff out that is a mark down for sure. Life is too short for extended rinsing. The shampoo rinses out easily and quickly, the conditioner takes a bit more effort as you’d expect, but neither could be classed as complicated.
Apparently, Provoke Go Ashy has something called ‘triple toning technology’ which I feel immediately suspicious about because it’s such a ‘marketing’ term, and is specifically formulated to neutralize warm tones and add a cool, ashy finish. It’s for silvers, blondes, brunettes and balayage. I’m really happy with it – it’s definitely raised up the original ashy highlights as well as giving a slightly whitening effect to the blonde highlights. Nothing not to like here – I used a conditioning mask after the shampoo on this occasion rather than the Provoke Go Ashy conditioner and I’d say it’s the same effect as when I used both the conditioner and shampoo.
Provoke is available at Superdrug, Boots and on Amazon HERE. I am not complaining about £5.99!
