OPI Autumn/Winter

It’s a bit of a mixed bag from OPI this time around; on the one hand, the Touring America shades are absolutely gorgeous. My eye is firmly on Road House Blues, a sleek and chic navy blue and there’s a delightful taupe I need too called A-Taupe The Space Needle. The whole look is keying into A/W fashion so beautifully I can see this collection will just disappear from the shelves.

Not so however, the ridiculous Muppets collaboration collection. Alice, I could do. Shrek, I baulked at, but Muppets? Please. The polishes are packed with super-glittery chunks that nail brands like to call ‘3-D’ that you just know will be a nightmare to take off. I could see myself trying the Rainbow Connection but the others all look really childish and while it’s great to embrace one’s inner child, this is too close to Sesame Street for comfort. The Muppets is actually their Christmas collection, so maybe by the time they launch I’ll be in more of a goodwill mood, but right now, not seeing the point of this at all.

In between A/W and Christmas is a Miss Universe collaboration; one shade from that really caught my eye; It’s My Year, a deep pinkish purple with gold shimmer that looks really, really pretty.

  1. I can actually see some of the glittery polishes done as french tips for a bit of christmas nail art, maybe?

Argh, can’t believe I just wrote the word christmas in July!

Love It’s MY year. right up my street. Lovely! The muppets collection isn’t inspiring at all…

OPI is my all time favourite nail polish. 10, 9 & 8 in the Touring America are right up my alley. There’s a salon near me that sells the brand, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for these.

  4. I believe this Muppet collection was highly inspired by the glitters you can see at Deborah Lipmann’s polishes.

  5. sorry, but I’ve always hated OPI names!

  6. I love glitters but yes pain to remove I don’t see why they have to be categorised as childish 😐 all depends on your point of view! For example I am bored to death by the Touring America collection!

  7. In my opinion these are all pretty blah, especially for the price tag of OPI in the UK.
I think the muppet ones are ok, to be honest I’d expect more exciting things when it’s based on the best puppets of all time. I am 24 years old and it’s just not childish enough for me!

Fresh Frog is great – Glitter Green at Christmas will be a great nail look.

Also the icy blue Gonzo shade would be perfect for a Christmas party – a fun touch to a killer LBD? The glitter is a bit much of course, but in context of the holidays I think it’s bang on trend.

I actually don’t mind the Muppets collection! Glitters can be a pain to remove, but I don’t mind sitting on my couch with foiled fingers and the next episode of ANTM 🙂

The polish that caught my eye was Swimsuit… Nailed It from the Miss Universe collection. Yes it’s easily dupable, but I love a peacock blue. It will be just in time for Australian summer!
