Good things to come from Olay with the new Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizer CC Cream (SPF15) on 1st October. I’ll say first up that we all know that you can’t physically minimize pores – they can’t shrink (unless you’re on certain acne medications) but you can minimize the look of them to a certain degree. So, Olay Total Effects Pore Minimiser CC Cream is more of a stealth pore slayer than a claim on actually physically shrinking them. This is quite an interesting product in many ways – first up, the trends for ‘real skin’ continue, and personally I am far less into heavy coverage than I ever used to be. So, the actual coverage is light – there isn’t a huge amount of colour in the cream but what there is is colour adaptive.
It definitely falls into the category of ‘weekend’ make up for me because it gives a natural look and then some. I love a dewy finish and it gives that as well as illumination that is, I guess, the appearance of minimizing part of things. I would say it’s a skin skim if you like – it just somehow smoothes over the surface with a halo-effect but in a non-obvious way. I think you would definitely see subtle differences in terms of smoothness, even tone and glowiness on first application. Oh, and it’s not one of those siliconey formulas at all. It feels like moisturiser.
I get along really well with Olay skin care, so maybe it’s just a natural fit that I would get along with Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizer CC Cream. The big thing about this product is the skincare element – Niacinamide (40% more than the regular Olay Total Effects), Vitamin E and ProVitamin B5 being the key players to reduce hyperpigmentation, boost up hydration and protect the skin from free radicals.
It will retail for about £14.99 in three shades – I have Light to Medium and Medium to Deep showing on the swatch, but my natural colour at the moment is Medium To Deep for my face. My one thing is that ‘pore minimizing’ is a little bit of an overstatement – ‘reduces the look of pores’ would have been a lot better. This cream has so much going for it that it doesn’t need to overplay anything.
