Odile Paris The Balancing Mask

[spons on Instagram but not spons here – just wanted this beauty to have its full light/sample/ad] Well, that complicated intro highlights the vagueries of how we must label our content – I am all for full disclosure but finding the right hashtags to tell the full story sometimes is tricky. I absolutely love this mask – I’d love it paid or not paid and while I was delighted to do promotional Instagram content on it, particularly as there is a generous discount for viewers, I have 1.5 minutes in a reel over there and here I can ramble to my heart’s content.

Odile Paris The Balancing Mask

I’ve written before about Odile Paris being the kind of reliable French skin care that just works with no fancy fanfare other than some rather pretty gold packaging. It’s expected that you know it will do the job and it absolutely does! It’s a balancing mask which as we know covers a multitude of skin woes and it contains kaolin, something my skin has not traditionally got along with. No such problems here, it’s a soother from the word go and took my slightly flaky, pre-cold, wan skin to bouncy and happy in 20 minutes. This is another anomaly for me – I don’t like a mask that keeps you waiting but in this case, it is more than worth it. I’d give it another 20 for the same result!

I’ve screen-grabbed from my sponsored IG post in the same room, in the same (terrible) bathroom lighting – there are no additional lights. It’s all white in there with a big window so it should be brilliant lighting but it’s not. But you can see (I think) the difference after 20 minutes – my skin is plumper, smoother and more hydrated. Really, I’d put this in the realms of an SOS mask – the morning after the night before territory. If anything puts Odile on the UK map it will be this because once you’ve tried it, you’re hooked.

In terms of ingredients, it’s kaolin, as mentioned, macadamia oil, rose oil and calendula which adds up to a very gentle, skin sloughing, hydrating and balancing product. You’d use it for dry, sensitive, breakout skin – I’d say ‘run down’ skin and because it takes away tiny flakes and hydrates the result is immediate. I used it again last night and added a squalane rich oil afterwards and this morning my skin is super happy. I usually suggest using a face mask in the morning and I still would advise that for showing off the results all day instead of sleeping on them, but you can do either/or with this. I’ve got a 35% discount offer for you if you like the look of it (JANE35) to use against the price of £45 HERE.

Hey Jane. Sounds lush. Is that def the discount code – JANE35 ? The Odile site is sadly not recognising it which = sad face (and not pineapple head ; )

Yay – it works. Thanks so much! Very excited to try this – sounds absolutely right up my face mask street and, as the cold sets in, it sounds like it will be a little bit of bliss on a chilly evening. I ordered the sample bundle as well (what an excellent idea!).

The sample bundle is such a good idea – please let me know how you get on with the mask. I’m doing mine again this evening 🙂

Hey BBB. Well – the mask arrived (hooray), along with the awesome sample collection (again, SUCH a great idea!). I think you summed it up best in your review – it’s very soothing. The nearest equivalent I can think of is that feeling of a nicely cool flannel on a warm day when the skin is feeling tetchy – I went ‘ahhhhhhh’ as soon as it was on my skin. It’s not ‘creamy creamy’ so my skin doesn’t feel greasy, and it’s not ‘gel like’ (which a lot of ‘hydrating’ face masks seem to be) , and it’s not thick thick so it doesn’t crack on your face. It’s a kind of Goldilocks face mask – that mask to reach for when your skin just needs a gentle plumping and a cuddle, rather than a stern talking to. It’s a big thumbs up. Thanks so much to introducing folk to it. A BIG thumbs up to Odile for sending it so quickly (it arrived ‘tout de suite’). On a side note, the packaging across the range is gorgeous – the different ‘golden’ flecks/patterns for the different products within a theme is so thoughtful – a real modern elegance. A def repurchase.
