[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Pine might not be on your radar at this time of year but the Noble Isle Pinewood Moray Forest Candle somehow doesn’t have winter connotations – it’s much more pine forest than Christmas tree. I’ve had it burning in my kitchen for a couple of hours and I can smell it from my work desk in the next room. When I go into the kitchen I get a real mind sharpener – a little shake up of the senses if you like – amplified by cool fern and freshness.
I was fully expecting a plain white candle so it’s such a pleasure to see this botanical silver highlighting – a plain white candle makes everyone’s job hard (imagine being a beauty editor with a page that relies strongly on visuals trying to place a white object with no distinguishing features on a white background) and I’m always delighted to see something representational or a point of difference. The silver lines catch the sunlight – I’m not far enough down to see whether the candle light shows through.
Before you put this candle to burn, the distinctive notes are more earthy and woody – elemi, guaiac wood and cedar – but once alight, it springs into an evergreen life that’s sharp and awakening. I like the roundedness of this blend with touches of cypress, patchouli, vetiver and musk and I think it will be equally at home in the day or evening. Everything is so verdant and green just now that Pinewood feels like a natural accompaniment to the colour around us – there is nothing jarring about this blend … just a perfect smoothness and ambience for the mood of the moment. If you like the fragrance so much you want more there are also shampoo and conditioner options as well as hand wash and shower gel. I’m a bit curious to have forest smelling hair I must admit! The candle is £40 (75 hour burn) but I have a 15% off code if you want to use it – BRITBEAUTY15 at checkout – which you can use across the site. Head HERE.
