New Trend: Fragranced Fans

My goodness, after fragranced bubbles for kids priced at £20 or so, fragranced bracelets and scented dressing gowns, what’s next to be suckered in for surround-smell? It seems like it is going to be scented fans. I am really not sure where I sit with these – on the one hand they seem a bit ‘fragranced drawer liner’ and yet on the other, wafting oneself in the heat of the day with orange blossom breezes really wouldn’t be too shabby.

The thing that stops this particular fragranced fan descending into scented drawer territory is that it is made by Daniel Vaudd (say it Vode), whose claim to fame is that at 23 he became the youngest ever product developer for Cowshed. He has a science background and is a trained cosmetic scientist but blends that background knowledge with creativity with perfumes. The paper fan, in traditional Japanese style, is infused with Radiantly Romantic; a fusion of Bergamot, Neroli, White Blossoms, Orange Blossom, Ylang Ylang and Jasmine with powdery bottom notes. It sounds rather lovely.

  1. I could live with this. Esp if someone else was doing the fanning!

  2. What a fabulous idea! I use a fan like this quite often during the summer, only not with a lovely scent like this <3

  3. Anything that popularises fans is OK with me. I always carry one on the tube in summer – it makes such a difference. I usually have to buy them on my occasional trips to Spain though. It would be nice if they sold them at House of Fraser as well as El Corte Ingles.

Tutti-fruiti scented footwear is apparently all the rage in Brazil. Go figure eh.

In all honesty I could use something like this when im on a stinky tube!

I have to say that this concept reminded me only of Victor Rolf Flowerbomb as anyone who has bought the fragrance may know that they have their own flowerbomb (paper) fan and fragrance sales advisers spray flowerbomb on the fan.
I’ve had a constant supply of these fans for almost 3 years now and I don’t only spray flowerbomb, I spray any particular fragrance I like!

It definitely comes in handy on stuffy (and smelly) tube journeys, as well as the wedding I just came back from in sweltering morocco..

Personally I’d recommend buying a normal fan and spraying your favourite fragrance on it a la Victor Rolf.. works wonderfully!

  7. I have bought the fan, just recieved it yesterday! I have to say it’s a great scent that cuts through tube smells lol. Also, if I leave it open in a room it fragrances the whole room, that’s another good point. I have tried spraying my own perfumes on other fans but I find they go stale.
