New Season Jumpers at M&S/Uniqlo

[unpaid/affiliate] I bought a pair of leather-look leggings in M&S at the weekend and I’m still not sure whether to keep them or not – last year’s version were gorgeous but noisy (a kind of shuffling sound when you move) and thankfully that aspect has gone, but even though I went a size up to a 14 because I’m not after the Sandy in Grease effect, the waist is still pretty snug although just how I want them on the leg. Decisions! But while I was in store I spotted some gorgeous sweaters, two of which I’ll be ordering (or, more likely, nipping down to store).

First up, this cotton v neck vest – if it isn’t already the darling of the Sunday supplements, it soon will be because you can pretty much wear it with anything. As seen in the picture, with wide-leg trousers (add a white shirt), with jeans (add a long sleeve top, any colour), over your gym kit or over a dress – very versatile and zero hassle. It comes in black as well and is £29.50 HERE.

This Fair Isle is on my list! I very rarely buy actual wool (glad of my snuggly wool/cashmere blend exception that I bought in the summer sales though) because it’s too easy to accidentally shrink (like cashmere but that feels more precious so I’m happy to hand wash) so I’m happy with the odd synthetic here and there knowing it will wash perfectly. This is made from recycled polyester but feels ever so soft and quite chunky. There’s a little bit of stretch in it which is extra comfortable and I would wear this with jeans, my black biker jacket and a big, woolly scarf. It feels like a snip at £35 HERE.

If I could recommend just one thing, it would be this incredibly useful cashmere hoodie that comes in several colours including black, pink and navy. It’s £119 which is, I think, quite reasonable for cashmere, and feedback on the site suggests it comes up big which is good.

I always suggest buying a size up in this fabric because brands can be quite skimpy on their sizing with such an expensive yarn – I’d still go up because a hoodie is glorious in its slouchiness. I’d wear this with literally anything, including pyjamas but a satin skirt and boots would take it up a few levels. It’s HERE.

If you want inspiration for slip/satin skirts that look fab with jumpers, head to Hush HERE, where this skirt is £65.

A very late addition – this Uniqlo Fair Isle for £35 HERE – so new that’s into not even in the ‘new in’ section – it’s only because I saw it in store (stocking up on knickers) yesterday that I knew it existed. There are two shades – all sizes – I bought a ‘souffle yarn’ sweater in L HERE and that’s the right fit for me as I like things loose (there’s a pic on my IG somewhere) so I’d advise going up a size in the Fair Isle if you prefer loose because it’s a similar knit and texture.

Thanks for this Jane, I have ordered one each of the M&S V neck tops as last year’s ones from a certain cheaper retailer have not worn well at all. Woolovers are good for knitwear too, lots of styles and colours and blends of wool and cashmere.
The Fair Isle sweaters are lovely but for those of us blessed with large busts they have a tendency to over emphasise our assets 😉
Have a lovely weekend Jane xx

Haha – that’s true although I think if you go loose it’s not quite so, er, ample looking.
