New Love: Lanolips

For some reason, I’ve always been a little bit skewed against lanolin in products; at the recesses of my brain I seem to think there was a fad that it was bad. However, I’ll admit to a 360 degree turn around now I’ve discovered Lanolips. Using ultra medical grade lanolin – the purest form possible – this Aussie brand is truly a balm among balms. It reminded me on application immediately of Bobbi Brown lip glosses, only slightly softer. The tints are perfect for me because I love to keep lips neutral but with a little oomph – Lanolips ticks that box.

Lanolin is a by-product of the wool industry; taken from wool shearings (so no sheep are harmed as this is an annual process); lanolin is close in make up to our own natural skin oils and can hold up to 200 times its own weight in water. Regardless of these lanolin facts, what can’t be disputed is that these are very, very lovely balms and have gone straight into my make up box as a new favourite.

You have to order it currently from Oz but its worth the effort. www.adorebeauty.com.au – it works out at around £9.47…

Lanolin gets a bad rap, and a lot of people tend to stay away from it because of that. But it is a fabulous product (just ask anybody who works in a shearing shed and they’ll tell you about the wonderful things the lanolin in the wool does for their hands). The occasional person will be sensitive to it, but I don’t think it’s that common. My absolute favourite hand cream of all time is a lanolin based one called Merino Lanolin Cream made here in New Zealand – unfortunately for you lot I don’t think it’s sold overseas. I might have to order some Lanolips to give it a try too.

  2. This is a very very rare event. British Beauty Blogger was scooped on this brand a couple of weeks back by London Make Up Girl.

I am a big fan of lanolin and I hope this product does well and hopefully turns some more people onto lanolin.

Lanolin was the mineral oil of yesteryear, wasn’t it? I remember seeing “Lanolin free” on all sorts of products.

  4. Hi Colin…it wasn’t claimed as a scoop..in fact London Make Up Girl let me try hers which is partly why I am now such a fan – I love all her recommendations. X

  5. Unfortunately my partner is violently allergic to lanolin so I can’t wear products that contain it. It is used to treat leather and the car seats in our new vehicle caused a nasty rash!

I remember reading about these on Lipglossiping a while back. She’s always raving about them. Hmmm should I, shouldn’t I? LOL

  7. You should wait..think they’ll be in UK soon x

My comment must’ve been eaten by Blogger on Friday.

I saw these myself on http://www.lipglossiping.com and http://www.dempeaux.com (who helped me to get hold of it.) – lovely stuff 🙂

A 360 degree turn would have left anybody else right where they started.
