New Beauty Trends: Cushion Foundation

If you’re wondering what’s around the corner, beauty trends wise, then you’ll need to get to know cushion foundations and BB creams very quickly! Cushion Foundation is a liquid foundation that’s pre-soaked into a sponge that you use another little sponge or puff to apply and the two are set in a compact.

The formulation can come in foundation or BB and they’re already huge in Korea and Japan. The idea is that you can carry it about with the same ease as you would a powder compact and they’re nothing like the solid compact foundations we already have. Handy, hey?

Look out for Cushion Foundations landing in the UK next year.

  1. This is my absolute FAVORITE BB Cushion. I LOVE IT! Laneige is a really great company. And it smells so good.

  2. Interesting, I wonder if there are any issues with the sponges drying out?

    1. This would be my thought too, although it does sound like a good idea! 🙂

    2. The sponge doesn’t dry out 😉

I’ve already used three of them (one Innisfree and two Laneige).

  3. Being of a suspicious nature, I immediately wonder just how little actual product you get here. Presumably not anywhere near the amount you get in a pump bottle.

      No I shouldn’t imagine so.

    2. In Asia, they always sell a refill. For instance, Laneige sells their Cushion Foundation with refill (and two sponges) for about 30€.

I am planning to get one of these when I go to the Motherland (aka Japan) later this month amongst other beauty things 🙂

  5. I am using a BB cushion and while I can´t comment on the amount of the Laneige BB Cushion, my Etude House cushion comes with 15 gramm of product. It runs out quicker than an entire tube of BB Cream (which are mostly at least 30 gramm), but it goes on very thinly and smoothly, covering blemishes and discolorations like a dream.

I had no problems with the sponge drying out, unless off course, it ran out of cream. I used the cushion almost daily and it lasted me a good 1,5 month and afterwards I bought a cushion refill.

  6. Do you remember when Stila did this in the late 90’s? It was part of the Stila Sport line. I loved it.

      I don’t remember! I wish I did.. xx
