This is, in my view, what NARS does best – searing, tropical hues that sing sand, heat and bursts of juicy colour. NARS Summer 2013 is exactly that – the collection launches in May, so not too far away, and it’s certainly got me in the mood for summer. I’m going to split the collection into a couple of posts so we can have a really good look at everything. Starting with the NARS Lip Glosses, the shades above are (from bottom to top) Mandarin, Turkish Delight and Orgasm. I don’t know my NARS glosses inside out but I know Orgasm isn’t new in gloss format. However, all the NARS glosses have undergone a revamp with a new formula for longer wear (a post on it’s way on the new textures).

There are five glosses for the NARS Summer 2014 look – missing from my line up are Priscilla (shocking pink) and Salamanca (described as Flamingo pink!).

Wonder is a hot, hot orange shade but it’s sheer, too so you can temper it down if you want to with a very light coat. Turkish Delight is the palest pink – more a whisper of colour on the lip than anything, and Orgasm is a peachy-pink blend bursting with shimmer. Above all, they’re super-glossy.

Another searing colour for nails – Libertango; I love the name! I wonder if NARS were thinking tango the dance or tango the drink – either way, I like it. I haven’t had a chance to get it on my nails yet.

Next up is the NARS Illuminator in Hot Sand – a peachy/tan based illuminator that is everything shimmery. It’s a very warm tone so fast forward to summer when the sun has hit your skin and that’s when this is going to shine.
I’m covering NARS Summer 2013 eyes in my next post.

Hi Jane,
“Libertango” is originally the name of a 1974 musical composition by Astor Piazzolla, an Argentinian composer who fused tango rhythms, styles, and instrumentation with then-modern elements from 20th century classical music and jazz. I also love the pairing of the name with that color and can’t wait to get it on my toes for summer! I enjoy your blog a lot; I’ve fallen off the beauty blogging bandwagon myself, but I admire you for how hard you work and I read your blog regularly. Happy Spring!
thank you so much for explaining that! interesting – and also for your kind words xx

Hi Jane,
I def. enjoy NARS Illuminators, so I’m happy to see Hot Sand here! Seems like a great golden addition to the current illuminator lineup 🙂
