Initially, when I was sent a box of products that ties in with this event, I wasn’t all that impressed. It just looked like four products in a box – which is, er, in fact what it is… but seeing it out of context didn’t do it in any favours at all because the overall concept is really quite good.

There’s a NARS pop-up at Harvey Nichols that is running masterclasses that focus on one area of the face – eyes, lips or cheeks. You choose which area you’d really like to make work for you and the make-up artist will teach you how to best use the products in the boxes to make your chosen area look its very best. You can, if you wish, choose a look from the new NARS book, Make Up Your Mind: Express Yourself, but I much prefer the idea of truly perfecting one area with the help of experts so you have a life-long skill that you can use and use.  The masterclass runs for two hours – clearly more time than you need for one area – so the best use of the time would be to cover the whole face but spend as much of the time as you need to perfect your chosen area. The boxes are value boxes.. it would cost more, I am told, to buy items individually, and the £35 booking fee is redeemable against your purchase. This only runs now til 28th May so you need to get dialling! 

The Lip Box contains: Roman Holiday Lipstick, Dolce Vita Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, Bangkok Pure Matte Lipstick and Orgasm Lipgloss and costs £47. The Eye Box contains Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base, Eye Shadow Palette, Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara, Eye Makeup Remover and costs £65, while the Cheek Box contains Orgasm/Angelika Blush Duo, Copacabana Multiple and Laguna Bronzing Powder, costing £55.
