Charlotte Rampling for NARS was a miss – Tilda is a hit. Tilda Swinton is 53 – she has one of those mercurial faces that leaves you guessing her age and at first glance, this image for the NARS spring 2014 range doesn’t deny her age but neither does it highlight it.
I think it’s a beautiful image – I’ve scoured the internet for current images of Tilda and yes, there’s some air brushing and jaw tightening, but it’s stayed realistic. The image makes me think of grown-up make-up; ageless but not frivolous. If there’s one thing we can be sure of, NARS is aiming for us, whether we like it or not!
