Nails Inc Mirror Chrome Silver Served Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] First thing I’m going to say is something I rarely say – rush to get this high shine chrome polish before it sells out. I got a box of new autumn nail polishes from Nails Inc this morning and as soon as I opened it I knew I had to get Silver Served onto my nails! I haven’t even looked at the other shades apart from the other colour that jumped out at me straight away – Hailey.

The fabulosity of Silver Served speaks for itself but there are a couple of things you need to know about it. I tried it initially with an undercoat which it really didn’t like. If you are using an undercoat, you need to give it a long time to dry before applying the chrome. I ditched the undercoat because the colour wasn’t adhering well and applied to bare nails which worked much, much better

I used two coats and don’t be afraid to be generous – metallic shades dry more quickly and you need it to be completely dry before coat number two as this finish doesn’t allow for any mistakes. I let coat two dry (mighty impatiently) before applying a quick dry top coat (also Nails Inc) which is more to protect the chrome from dings. In a low light, the chrome looks like nothing at all – what brings it to life is light so don’t worry if it looks a bit dull if you apply in a low light; it will spring into action as soon as you enter a bright room.

Twist a tiny bit of cotton wool around an orange stick tip and dip in nail polish remover to tidy up if you’ve gone over any edges. Nails Inc brushes are almost intuitive because they’ve got the brush shape 100% correct but if there are any stray strokes use the orange stick to remove. As you can see, it’s so easy to get little bits of fibre on the tips – god knows where they come from – it’s always a mystery – but you can just tweezer them off.

Hailey, which is a spectacular ruby slipper red filled with glimmers and glints, is stunning with some Rouge Noir accents in the blend and makes a perfect partner for anything black – cashmere roll neck, velvet gown – you name it, Hailey is going to love it.

The shimmers are a mix of pink and gold but it’s not really an obviously sparkly polish – more an amplification of the base red to give it vitality. Hailey is in the 45 Second Formula meaning that it dries in 45 seconds but I always use a quick dry top coat anyway – belt and braces, folks. It’s £8 HERE, Silver Server is £11 HERE and the Quick Dry Top Coat is £15 HERE.
