[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I think it’s safe to say that we probably don’t expect very much from a £10 fragrance but the M&S Discover range will challenge your thinking on this. I’ve been wearing both Sunset and Sunrise on and off since last week and I have a clear favourite – Sunrise – but other than needing to reapply more often I cannot see any difference between many of our luxury favourites and these in terms of quality of notes.

Ombre glass is always a winner – these bottles just look beautiful when the light catches them in the bathroom; vibrant, tropical and pleasing on the eye.

I think it’s the jasmine that has caught me on Sunrise – it’s delicate and but definitely present while the juice is given freshness by bergamot and warmth by sandalwood. I can see why the brand team called it Sunrise because it captures the dewiness of morning with watery and green accents.

No surprises that my niece, Sophie, loves this fragrance for its sweetness and weightiness. Again, it’s one that needs regular reapplication but I don’t really hold that against any fragrance – Jo Malone needs fairly regular top ups in my experience but if you love a scent, the reapplication is a treat to get it blown up all over again. Pistachio, tuberose and tonka are quite a heady combination – it’s too much for me and reminds me in some ways of Huda Bake (sold out everywhere, £250 on eBay!) but I think it’s only the tonka that is giving me that cupcake vibe. If you like a gourmand perfume then this is the one for you. Again, appropriately named because I’m straight there on imaging liberally spritzing before a night out. They’re both HERE.
