[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I think you’re going to see a lot about the new Maybelline Super Stay Lumi Matte Foundation because it’s behaving like a very expensive foundation and yet costs £12.99. It’s already been an absolute smash in Asia and has finally launched in the UK.
One of the big claims is that it has a 30 hour wear – I mean, I don’t know when I’ll ever need a base that will still be visible after 30 hours, but the formula felt so light and comfortable on my skin that I did actually wear it for a full 27 hours which obviously included one sleep. The thing to note about longevity claims is that they know that nobody needs 30 hours from their foundation but it does drive home the message that it’s a stayer. When I finally cleansed, there was definitely a trace – see below.
You can see there is still some there, but the crucial thing about longevity claims is they never say how much will be left after 87 (or whatever) hours. I was left with a trace of it but by no means still a full face of make up. So, read between the lines!
As soon as I put Maybelline Super Stay Lumi Matte Foundation on my face, I was instantly reminded of Dior Forever Skin Glow – a more matte version. But, fluidity, texture – even the colour (Dior is above, Maybelline is below) is super, super close. The Maybelline version is boosted with amino acids, niacinamide and Vitamin E but I don’t really know in what quantity and whether they’re ‘marketing doses’ or significant enough to have any impact.
I’m wearing shade 119 – my Dior shade is 2N – and there are 22 shades available from light to very deep. I’d suggest, if you have a penchant for pricey foundations, that you give this £12.99 version a run. It’s HERE.
