Maybelline Grippy Serum Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I almost never use a primer – it’s never been in my repertoire and I’m not about to start now but when Maybelline Grippy Serum arrived through the post, I wanted to try it if only to reassure myself that I’m skipping an unnecessary step in my (such as it is) routine. Actually, I have done quite a big beauty shop with products expected this week so hopefully I’ll be able to show you them sooner rather than later. It’s important that I’m a consumer as well as a reviewer and let me tell you, I was thoroughly influenced by someone on Substack for one of the items! I’m away from Thursday this week (all systems running again by Monday) and I’m doing my best to get some posts scheduled so normal service isn’t interrupted. I’m hoping to get a top up of Gucci Goldie Red Voile at duty free although we have to be at Gatwick for 5am – argh!

Back to the Maybelline Grippy Serum which makes a 24H claim – so boring because it just reminds me that I’m not now a person who can look forward to having pristine make up after an all night rave. I mean, who knows if it will keep your foundation locked to your face for the full 24 hours? I’m not putting to the test – I feel I’m living dangerously if I go to bed after 10.

Marketing has had fun creating ‘serum-to-grip technology’ (quoi?? spits tea..) but the actual texture, after the initial tackiness has worn off, is untraceable on the skin. It’s got a dose of niacinamide so there is some skin care benefit and I can see it being useful for occasions where the chances to powder your nose are limited – weddings and so forth. The big question, did it keep my make up? Yes, to a degree – there was more than normal to remove at the end of the day and given how the formula dries down to nothing, it doesn’t feel like an extra layer as such. It’s an easy win if you want to stay locked and loaded over a longer period of time than usual but if you do put it to the 24 hour test please let me know so that I can have a moment of living vicariously 😊

It’s a very decent price at £11.99 but £9.34 HERE.
