Marc Jacobs Perfect Boxed Set Review

[unpaid/sample] With the news that Marc Jacobs make up is coming back very soon (ish), I thought I’d refresh my memory on Marc Jacobs fragrances. I loved Marc Jacobs make up – I still have some key pieces that I can’t quite let go of – and I liked the fragrances too. The fragrance licence has been held by Coty for years and extended recently to a further 15 years, incorporating cosmetics into that deal. Back in 2009, Marc Jacobs was launching the Patisserie collection of perfumes – apple, pomegranate & macaron and Biscotti while 2011 saw the launch of a solid perfume necklace in Daisy, so he was well ahead of his time in that regard. I’ve always thought the ‘girl in field’ ad for Daisy makes her look like she’s just been flattened by something from above, but despite that, Daisy is the best seller.

I’ve never smelled Perfect before but it is distinctly ‘Marc Jacobs’. It has that same soft skin accord that so many of his perfumes do, emanating from almond milk notes, and made fruity by rhubarb. An interesting note is narcissus – that earthy, bulby tang is beautiful.

The base is cashmeran and cedar but they’re bit players in this with rhubarb and almond milk top of the bill board. To my nose, it’s a perfect first teen fragrance or even a light day wear for spring.

The bottle though! That’s honestly the most bonkers fragrance lid I’ve ever seen and I love it. Shoes, dice, bananas… you name it, they’ve piled it on in a cornucopia of nonsensical madness. You’d never forget this being your first grown up fragrance, would you? This set came from Perfume Direct who have it on offer for £92.99 (RRP £114) HERE and the box includes a 100ml fragrance, 75ml Body Lotion and 75ml Shower Gel.
