MAC Tartan Tales: Correction

Ok, when I first posted on the MAC Tartan Tales collection, here’s what I said, ” These gorgeous innovations have the tartan pattern on top of the compact layed down through a patented flocking process with tiny individual nylon fibres pre-dyed and laid down in the specific patterns. The colour goes all the way though – so there’s no overspraying here – and it’s actually a cosmetic industry first. ” An eagle eyed Tweeter had spotted that another blogger said the colour does not go all the way through. So in a highly scientific experiment (bread-board and knife!) I got to it and cut through Glamora Castle. Indeed, the colour does not go all the way through.

My apologies – I took a face value what I was told, when clearly I should have had my trusty knife and bread-board out right from the start. Sorry.

Thanks BBB for clearing that up. Its a shame you had to ruin a perfectly good eyeshadow to do it.

Why can’t cosmetic companies just be honest and tell the truth from the get-go?? The truth will always come out in the end. Just makes them look foolish now in my eyes, not that they looked great in the first place, but hey!

(MAC, you’re a load of tosh!)

  3. I’m just waiting for a legion of MAC addicts to come mourn the death of an eyeshadow.

This would have been much cooler had it gone all the way through. 🙁

  5. Such a shame you had to do that to it but thanks for letting us know! You’ve saved me a fortune. I was anticipating wanting everything in this collection (I’m Scottish… ) but I’m quickly falling out of love with it x

  6. actually I think that’s better. You’ve now got a full pan of a useful colour as opposed to irritating fiddly stuff throughout. Thank you for taking a scientific approach to this.

  7. Thank you for sorting this out! I wish MAC would be honest about this sort of thing so you wouldn’t have to cut it open. I was honestly kind of excited for this new technology but it turns out to be a load of crap.

Any comment from MAC on how that press release got out? Has an intern been sacked somewhere?

  8. Fair play to you for doing that, I would’ve just taken their info at face value, the truth will always come out 🙂

Rubbish. Perhaps its just a faulty batch though.

I saw on another blog a picture of the Tartan pattern worn off after the blogger swatched it.

I’m not that impressed with the way MAC has handled things lately.

BTW, BBB, I just found your blog and really enjoy it!
