The Prep + Prime range is known for being the benchmark for all other base products to follow. But, this one just didn’t work for me. MAC Prep + Prime 24 Hour Extend Eye Base is supposed to keep your eye makeup looking fresh and vibrant all day long. It’s both humidity and sweat resistant and helps to stop shadows from creasing and fading. In a nutshell, the catch-all to keep your eye colour the same at the end of the day as it started at the beginning of the day. Nu-oh. It did not do that.
I used MAC Prep + Prime 24 Hour Extend Eye Base under a Charlotte Tilbury shadow that I’ve used many times before that stays quite well on its own. I don’t have especially oily lids either, so I was really surprised that it hadn’t even lasted four hours, never mind the full 24. I am pretty sure I didn’t rub my eyes so there’s no explanation for this other than that the primer just wasn’t up to the job.
MAC Prep + Prime 24 Hour Extend Eye Base is one to miss this time around – compared to Urban Decay Eye Primer, there’s just no comparison, although the texture is different. MAC Prep + Prime 24 Hour Extend Eye Base feels slightly silicone-y although it is light on the lid and a completely comfortable wear.
