I’m so not loving the imagary in this range – it’s an ironic take on the romance novel but I honestly just don’t like it at all. That said, there are some interesting colours in the range – I have a few here to show you in swatch form. First up is the Novel Romance Quad, £30.
MAC A Novel Romance Quad is kind of olivey-brown based with a couple of sheeny neutrals (from left to right: My Fantasy, Fall In Lust, Dance In The Dark and Rising Passions) in a mix of veluxe pearl, frost, matte and velvet. For my colouring (brown eyes, olive tone) this is a really useful palette.
There’s a selection of Lipsticks (six) of which I have Good Kisser above – a vivid pink in matte format. Lipsticks are £15.50.
The one product that I’m really going to get a lot of wear from is the nail polish in Midnight Ocean. It’s a dusky mid blue – little bit denim in my opinion.
It’s so well pigmented that I’ve only used one coat on the nail wheel swatch. It’s £10 and there’s a selection of six shades.
It’s always really hard to tell with MAC what colours are new, brought back or existing when they do these collections – MAC fans always know, but in honesty, I end up in all kinds of confusion! MAC A Novel Romance is a big collection, comprising Fluidline Pencils, a set of Electric Cool Eye Shadows (all limited edition), Nails, Lipsticks (limited edition), Lipglass (limited edition) and brushes. The collection starts off on-line from 28th August and goes into all MAC locations from 4th September.
