MAC MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] If you asked me whether MAC embossed their logo on their lipsticks, I don’t think I’d be able to say with absolute certainty whether they do or they don’t. If you’re now wondering, I can tell you that they didn’t, but now they do! MAC MACximal Silky Matte Lipsticks are an upgrade on MAC Matte and honestly, I’m not sure I’d call them matte at all – I think they’ve ventured into satin which is fantastic news for those of us who have no time for the crinkling effect of mattes.

As you can see, the curse of the fibre has struck again! Honestly, I look but I don’t see until I’ve actually edited the photo by which time, it’s several days later usually and too late to start the shoot all over again. There are 40 core shades in MAC MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick and 4 Viva Glam shades which are a mix of original shades and new. I know that MAC fans will instantly know which are new but I’m not quite enough of an expert to know, other than, of course, Ruby Woo, which I absolutely love in this new format.

And glorious Ruby Woo. Just for context, I use a lip balm underneath which is contributing to the shine – they’re not that shiny – the swatch shows the realistic finish – the photos are for colour only. I have to use a balm when I’m trying multiple lipsticks because otherwise my poor lips just shrivel. Lipsticks are £25 each (hold on, it’s moments since they were £18!!) HERE. The swatches on the MAC site are very good – on multiple skin tones and the shades are categorised. I also noticed that they’ve implemented a lipstick icon as you move your mouse (or equivalent) around and call me shallow, I think it’s cute 🙂
