Lottie London Sweet Lips Duo

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] One of the things I really enjoy about reviewing beauty is the broad spectrum of products I see. There are always surprises – you expect the really expensive products to work miracles when they very often don’t and the cheaper products to underperform somehow. When I got the Lottie London Sweet Lips Duo through, flavoured with Marshmallow and Cinnamon, I had preconceptions!

Obviously, it was set for the Christmas market that I just didn’t get around to testing but because it’s a lip product and I am constantly moisturising my lips, I really did want to try it. I’m a sucker for a good balm – Biossance, Sisley, Lanolips, Naturopathica and so on. I’m not really a fan of flavours in balms but one of the notable things is that these flavours are very, very mild. Of the two, I prefer the cinnamon (pink) which doesn’t leave any aftertaste and sits as happily on my lips as any of the aforementioned brands.

The texture of cinnamon is looser so it has a bit more glide and the finish on both is more of a matte led sheen rather than gloss. You can use them as night masks but you can do that with any balm really – it’s just an extra slather before you go to bed but the more nourishing the ingredients, the better the result. These aren’t exactly laden with natural oils but there is shea and jojoba. Yet somehow, they do give good, nourishing and easy lipwear and will do a decent barrier job.

Amongst the affordable brands, I really like Lottie London – they’re innovative and fun and remind me a bit of Bourjois. This duo is on offer for £9 at ASOS HERE, down from £12. Non-affiliate HERE.

So pretty and nice to see some different lip treatment flavours / scents. Plus yay for the price point. Burts Bees is my favourite, though Biossance runs very close.
I did notice that a rather well known, more expensive brand has launched some red flower inspired beauty products including a lip balm. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on some of these when they land at your BBB desk 🙂

No idea if those will ever land – radio silence from them and I’m not going cap in hand :-))

Understood Jane 😉 Shame for them if I may say so. Here’s to many more purse friendly products this year as they make for such good reviews! Have a good evening xx

Thanks Chrissie – definitely rethinking my relationships with brands this year xx

I’ve been using Lottie London as my nightly lip balm for the past 6 months and have to say I find them just as good as much more expensive balms. I would highly recommend. Currently using totally coco and it’s lasting ages too even with nightly use.
