[purchase/affiliate] Back in December, I sent my friend Ant on a hunt in NYC while he was there for New Year to find the L’Oreal Paris Lumi Le Glass Highlighter Stick and he couldn’t find it anywhere. So when Max, my son, went last month I had a little shopping list for him (including Crate & Barrel tea towels which are the world’s best) including Lumi Le Glass. He didn’t find the tea towels (how could he not – this is still a mystery) but he did, unnecessarily, as it turns out, pick me up a Lumi Le Glass. In between Ant going to NYC and Max going to NYC, the damned thing had launched in the UK.
At £11.99, this feels like a very good price for a summer skin pick-me-up that makes your cheeks look blessed with light. On the skin, it feels as silky as it looks. I’m not one for highlighting generally, and probably wouldn’t even own a highlighter were it not for this job, but this is outperforming everything I’ve tried previously, even the really, really expensive ones (looking at you Hourglass, £45).
The shade I have here is Ballet Pink and it gives the lightest of pink flushes to the cheeks and an amazing amount of lightfulness. It’s weird because it looks quite warm in the tube but I think would suit warm or cool tones easily. The ‘glassiness’ is perfect for the genre – glass skin is a major trend that denotes smooth, poreless and translucent skin which is unattainable for most of us if we take it literally, but there are elements that we can enjoy. I’ve always been into ‘dewy’ – I love the freshness that’s absolutely lovely for any age skin, and the way that a dewy finish can make your complexion look soft and natural.
Look! I’m so pleased with my cheeks :-). I’m not aiming for ‘glass skin’ – I know when I’m beat, but this elevation with a light hit look is gorgeous on a sunshiney day to let your glow show. You can find it HERE in 2 shades.
