The lastest L’Oreal Paris lipstick collection is Collection Privee: Les Nudes – individual nude shades created in collaboration with the L’Oreal Paris spokesmodels, Cheryl Cole, Freida Pinto, Julianne Moore, Liya Kebede, Eva Longoria and Doutzen Kroes. I have the selection above to show you.

This year a lot of brands have reinterpreted nudes – very loosely in some cases (some prime examples in my feature HERE) and again, these aren’t necessarily what I would call traditional nude – the pink (Doutzen’s Nude) is definitely pink and not nude, but I’m being picky. In any case, if it is to be believed, the spokesmodels have helped to create their own shades, so I’m not going to argue with Cheryl Cole over a nude!

As you can see from the swatches, Doutzen’s Nude in pink is barely there – it’s the merest hint of a colour, called, appropriately, Hint of Pink. Julianne’s Nude, Rosewood Beige, is designed for paler complexions (as is Hint of Pink). Frieda’s Nude, Mauve Pink, has hints of lavender in it and will suit those with caramel tones, while Eva’s Nude, Skin Peach, which I’m wearing now is best for darker hair and and golden skin tones. Actually, to me, it has almost brick tones to it and even though I am exactly right for the suggested tone match, I’d probably choose Freida’s Nude for myself. As far as texture goes, it’s quite a rich consistency with good coverage – I prefer something a little more glossy myself and these aren’t exactly matte but aren’t heavy on the sheen either. The packaging is L’Oreal Paris’s most luxy yet – it looks very premium with matte-ish black and gold.

They’re £8.19 in Boots but seem to be on the Buy One Get Another Half Price offer HERE.

  1. I was really disappointed by these, i swatched them but only liked a couple on my skin tone. Also they don’t wear long, i had to reapply 30 minutes later. Over hyped 🙁 real shame

I’ve been wearing mine for about two hours and it’s still okay… although has lost its initial lustre.

  2. I hope there will be more shades available then just the nudes!

  3. I think the US range has a shade by JLo but non by Cheryl (possibly, just did some research on the a couple of weeks ago when I first heard about them…)? Maybe they both “chose” the same colour and “happened” to be popular in different markets?! Or possibly I’m just a cynic. Either way I do think these are a fab idea because I for one (blonde, very pale and very cool toned) find it very difficult to find a decent nude that doesn’t make me look like I’m channeling a zombie look. What would look lush on you would most likely look rubbish on me so hopefully this range will have something for everyone.

By the way I have a giveaway on my blog if you wanna check it out 🙂

  5. They did something like this years ago and I discovered my perfect nude lippy – it was the Ashwari Rai one. Typically, it’s been discontinued. Bah!

Interesting that you only have four swatches, I was in Boots on Sunday and they also only had the four above, yet as a dark skinned black girl I could probably only use Liya’s shade a d they didn’t even have it as a tester or in the supporting merchandise. I’m really disappointed, if these big brands are finally acknowledging all skin tones then all the products should be promoted and available.

      I couldn’t agree more x
