June sees the launch of the L’Occitane Brasil Collection – and it’s a riot of colour and fragrance: just as you’d expect Brasil to be. I’ll revisit the entire collection at some stage nearer to launch because there are so many products, so this is just a preliminary over-view. There are three separate ranges under the Brasil umbrella – so far my favourite is Jenipapo which focusses on sun care and fragrance. I’ll have to put my hands up here and confess my lack of botanical knowledge – I’ve never heard of the Jenipapo fruit! Apparently the flowers release a juicy green, floral and fruity scent – think lemons and watermelon with a green edge and a musky dry-down.
One of the most interesting products is the Jenipapo Face Protection Veil (SPF30) – a light-weight facial sunblock – initially it felt a little oily when I put it on my skin, but within minutes that oiliness had gone and turned into a not-quite-matte-but-nearly finish. And, it has a barely there feel which is so important when it’s hot!
The other two ranges within the L’Occitane Brasil Collection are Vitoria Regia Day Flower, and Vitoria Regia Night Flower. Day Flower is light and floral; gardenia and lily of the valley are dominant, but it’s fresh and crisp at the same time. Night Flower is powdery and green – the two products above both look drinkable!
All in all, the L’Occitane Brasil Collection is an exciting and vibrant addition for L’Occitane. L’Occitane have used local Brazilian artist to create the artworks and also native Brazilian ingredients for the collection. With all eyes on Brazil this summer (World Cup!) I think this will give us a taste of Brazil without the vuvuzelas!
