Living Proof Perfect Hair Day High Shine Gloss Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] It’s a good job that I had this treatment done before I changed my hair colour because as I’m discovering, it’s a whole different ballgame with grey/blonde hair which doesn’t have enough pigment to create reflections. Living Proof Perfect Hair Day High-Shine Gloss is billed as an in-shower treatment, which needs leaving on the hair for five minutes. To me, that’s not in-shower unless you’ve got shares in the water board because you’ll have already shampooed and conditioned, surely? It’s a step out of the shower treatment in my book 😊.

I had the product professionally applied at a salon, courtesy of Living Proof, where any shine would also have the benefit of the smoothest of blow dries. I took Dora with me and she was as good as gold! High-Shine Gloss is made without silicones and as a general rule, you need silicones to create artificial shine, so technically, it’s something of an achievement. I don’t mind silicones but I know people have conflicting views about them.

The first ingredient after water in High-Shine Gloss is jojoba esters and the formula also includes (non -technically speaking) a high gloss emollient with an optical brightener, proprietary smoothing aids that help to keep hair fibres smooth and a similar-to-ceramide moisturiser that helps to seal cuticles for even more smoothing. You need to be specific in the way that you use this product – ensure that your hair is properly wrung out before applying and when you do apply, use it from root to ends. Keep your hair wrapped for at least 5 minutes (honestly, I’d give it longer), press your hair with the wrap to ensure even distribution, before rinsing.

The Living Proof High-Shine Gloss will give you extra shine – whether that’s the glass like shine you’re looking for is another matter. What I liked about the treatment was the smoothing action and yes, I saw shine for sure, but it’s a realistic shine rather than a hair ad shine. If that’s a good enough compromise for being without silicones, only you will know, but you’ll certainly have bouncier, smoother hair that the light will catch. The product should last you through three washes but I can’t speak for that as I then had my hair dyed two days later! Living Proof is one of those brands that I am still working out but am now obsessed with their Clarifying Detox Shampoo, £31 HERE, Weightless Mask, £38 HERE (use them one after another and wow!) and Dry Shampoo, £27 HERE, but didn’t get along at all with their Triple Bond Complex, £42 HERE. You can find High Shine Gloss, £30, HERE.
