Leonor Greyl Pre-Shampoo Treatment Oil Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’m very reticent to put oils in my hair for any reason whatsoever. I’ve been caught out in the past with hair that looks like I’ve swum in olive oil multiple washes later and if there’s one thing that brings out my angry side, it’s having to rewash my hair because the products are still in it. It’s bathroom rage.

Leonor Greyl Pre-Shampoo Treatment Oil

Leonor Greyl Pre-Shampoo Treatment Oil specifically says that it’s a pre-shampoo treatment, but even so, I used it on the mid-lengths and ends only. I’ve seen some reviews on this product that say the scent makes them feel like they’ve been punched but I absolutely love it. To the point that I’ve put just the tiniest amount on my ends today just so I can have the scent of jasmine-meets-gardenia in my hair.

Because it’s mostly pure oil (Mongongo and coprah amongst others), it goes firm in the bottle if it’s too cold – I had to keep mine on a radiator to make it useable so you’d need to remember to do that (or pop it in a bowl of hot water). I left it in my hair for about half an hour before washing (at least 10 minutes is recommended or you can have it on overnight) and can’t say I had any problems shampooing it out.

Today’s hair is particularly soft and bouncy and I stuck to my usual products to see if I could make out any difference from the pre-treatment. I think so – it’s not a scientific study but the hair doesn’t lie! I think the drier your hair, the more you’ll get from this product. I can’t imagine smothering my hair in it to protect it from the sun (a stated benefit) – it seems more bother than it’s worth especially if you have a hat to hand but it’s the smell that will draw me back. If you hate jasmine, this is not the product for you. Otherwise, it’s £32.20 HERE.
