Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’m really not much of a powder fan so very rarely wear it, but I was sent the Laura Mercier Winter Glow Prime & Set Duo so thought I’d dip my toe back in the water (or desert, because powder tends to dry my skin) and give it a go. I used to be completely mad for Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser but I jumped ship in favour of another brand that I’ve stuck with. I haven’t forgotten though, the first time I tried the Laura Mercier version, and thinking, this is how a base should feel.

In the set, you’ll find a 15ml Hydrating Primer and a 6g Translucent Loose Setting Powder Ultra-Blur. The idea is that you apply the primer, your choice of foundation or tint and then apply the powder for a gauzy look to your complexion. I decided not to use a base to give the powder a harder task and while I’ll still never use a powder as standard, I feel quite impressed.

I think that’s a pretty good finish (please ignore the vestiges of mascara – note to self: cleanse better) – it’s natural looking and slightly ‘perfected’. You need a big, fluffy brush for this, dipped lightly – you can always go over again but you can’t take it away so a light touch is best. I’ve got a little bit of blush on but other than that, nothing but the moisturising primer and the powder.  The set is on offer – it’s a good offer if you’re a powder fan – at £23.50 (value is £45) HERE.
