Korean Beauty Buys

Korean Beauty Buys

I’ve clearly got over-confident in my Korean beauty ordering – the whole cushion thing has me in a vice of curiosity (I am using my 3Lab every day at the moment) so I wanted to see how it was being used outside of blush and foundation. Basically, I ended up with a lip tint with a very pointless sponge at the other end! The Missha Lip Cushion Crayon is a lovely lip product – they cite the sponge at the end as something for a smudge blend which is absolutely perfect for the ombre lip look, but not anything else really. I think I had expected there to be some fluid in the sponge. Anyway, I am living and learning on that one!

Hera Cushion Liner

I have been desperate to get my hands on a cushion liner – but again, this is another fail for me. The Hera Cushion Liner was far too wet – I wanted it to tightline with and all I got was an eyeball full of black! Even as a liner for the outer lid, I found it just too watery to do anything with.

I love buying Korean brands – it’s always such a discovery, but this time both my buys were no-nos. On the plus though, I got a good selection of samples, including this one:

Snail Bee
Snail Bee

Snails and bees! I’ll pass, but it’s a curiosity for sure!

I’ve never tried Korean brands but I have been hearing a lot about them recently. I love you posts about them, at least if I do ever try them I will know what is worth a go and what’s not. x

Nooo, don’t pass on the Benton Snail Bee essence – it’s incredible stuff! I know it sounds weird, but it’s best thing I’ve ever found for redness or irritated skin, hands down.

Really? Good to know.. but I never feature bee products – and can’t get my head around snail. Both together is like my nightmare!

  3. I’ve never tried Jera before. Have you tried 3 Concept Eyes? I’m really loving that Korean brand at the moment!

no, I will have a look..thanks for the heads up!

  4. Benton snail bee essence is an absolute holy grail item for me! You must try it!

That said korean cosmetics are so-so (apart from the fantastic cushions) but their skin care products are amazing! I don’t use anything else on my face anymore! I love Benton, tosowoong, mizon, purederm and skin factory. Don’t give up on korea – buy some skin care items and give snails a chance 😉 seriously, it’s not as gross as it sounds!

I just feel a bit sorry for the snails and the bees…

We should be saving the Bees.

Benton has had some controversy over contaminated products and poor customer service in response to that, but snail essence (at least, don’t know about bee) doesn’t harm the snails to produce – it just comes off them like wool off a sheep. It is absolutely amazing for acne marks/scarring/hyperpigmentation – it’s used to treat burn scars. Mizon is the best brand to try for it. My best friend’s adult acne has been transformed by it.

Mizon also do a very respectable 8% glycolic acid peeling serum, much cheaper than REN etc.

Good to know – thank you!

Agree, Benton products are terrific. Did you know the brand is named after the film Benjamin Button, in which a man gets younger? Strange but true.

I love knowing that! Thanks for telling me 🙂
