[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I first reviewed Kate Somerville several years ago but my very first introduction to this brand was in New York in 2008. I was on holiday with Mr BBB who very patiently found the obligatory man chair that every department store has for bored husbands/wives/partners/parents while I stalked the beauty aisles of whichever store we were in. I want to say that this was in Henri Bendel but I couldn’t swear to it. I chatted with the sales assistant and asked if there were any plans for the brand to come to the UK – to my surprise, she said that there were plans!
In May 2008 there were rumours that Kate Somerville would come to the shelves of SpaceNK but I honestly cannot remember if that actually happened. The brand was bought by Unilever in 2015 and obviously it became more readily available, as it is now. I’ve definitely featured both these products before but thought it was time for another look, not least because luxury skincare for sensitive skin isn’t that readily available. I must admit that at the time, because this was an original product, I was a bit dubious about goat milk but in fact, the product contains goat milk enzymes and proteins which somehow seems better and less, er, fresh. Add in jojoba, avocado, aloe, grapeseed oil and vitamin E and you have immediate comfort.
I’ve used both the moisturiser and the cleanser multiple times over the years and love them both. If you are someone whose skin feels tight and uncomfortable after cleansing, I feel confident saying that the Goat Milk Cleanser will eliminate that feeling for you. It’s a wash off cleanser – no foam, just cream – that’s very effective and soothing at the same time. I like the fact you can buy a 30ml small size for £10 HERE which means you’re not committing yourself and you can give it a good go before upsizing to the 120ml which is £38. The Goat Milk Moisturising Cream is more expensive at £65 HERE but again, if your skin is dry and tight, the surprisingly loose cream will sort it right out. It will also knock down redness if that’s a problem for your dry, sensitive skin. My favourite Kate Somerville product used to be Exfolikate but over the years my skin has become more sensitive so I can’t use it any more and I always have regrets because it made my skin feel and look fresh from an hour long facial. If you don’t have sensitive skin, it’s a high recommendation from me – it’s £21 HERE. I’ve known this brand a long time now – if you don’t know it, it’s well worth investigating if you love high grade, power packed skin care.
