[unpaid/sample] I don’t use hand cream nearly as often as I should – my nails would be happier, I’m sure – and while I slop on some SPF most days, I rarely give my hands any sort of intensive treatment. I’ve got lots of lovely hand creams but I think I have put too much emphasis on weight somehow being ‘more’. Hand creams are usually thicker than face creams, for example, and often body creams.

While the Hibernicis Cara Hand Cream, from Ireland, falls into the luxury bracket at £29 for 75ml, it’s has the same feel as a face cream – it’s lightweight and fresh on the skin but very nourishing. Key ingredients are seaweed extracts, squalane, rosehip seed oil, shea, avocado oil and glycerine.

The fragrance – lavender and mandarin – is pleasant and unobtrusive but for me the weight is the winner because this feels as though it’s delivering everything a weightier, less pleasant feeling product would do. It’s immediately softening – actually, I would say it feels skin compatible straight away rather than just ‘sitting’ on your skin. Not cheap, but if you hate the feel of most hand creams, I think you’ll probably like this very much. You can find it HERE. Oh, by the way, ‘cara’ means ‘friend’.
